Fishing, for most of us, is either a leisurely activity or a way to destress. Some lucky folks even get paid to do it. And then there are those rare individuals who actually fish to put food on the table. With the cost of groceries these days, it seems like more people are turning to fishing as a way to save some cash. Personally, I fish for the sheer joy of it, but hey, having some free food in the freezer doesn't hurt either.
Now, let's get down to the nitty-gritty and talk about some not so fancy recipes for the fish you reel in.
First up, we have catfish. My personal favorite for frying. Just slap on a light batter, toss it in some hot oil, and voila!
Next, we have trout. Clean it up, stuff it with some citrus slices, and let it smoke to perfection. It's practically a gourmet meal in my neck of the woods.
Moving on to bass/striper hybrid. Coat it in breadcrumbs, pop it in the oven, and bake until golden brown. A squeeze of lemon or a splash of malt vinegar and you're good to go.
And let's not forget about walleye/saugeye, the crème de la crème of freshwater fish. Season with Old Bay, bake with butter, serve with rice, and drizzle with that delicious buttery goodness. Bon appétit!
These are just a few ways my family enjoys our fish dinners. Because who needs a trip to the grocery store when you've got a fishing rod, am I right?
